176: Finished Projects

Hooray! I'm so excited to share the recent projects that I finished. And I have photos! Not very good photos...but photos nonetheless. Let's start with the Neck Candy from Luxury Yarn One-Skein Wonders: 101 Small Indulgences. I made mine out of some Manos that I got in Ashland, Oregon (I'm trying to work through my stash...yay!). I loooove the colors. So pretty! (rav project link)

I think I'm going to get a shawl pin for it instead of buttons.

Next we have the Bainbridge Scarf. I made mine out of Mirasol Sulka, which was much bulkier weight than the pattern called for, so I only cast on about 120 stitches and still used up two skeins...I originally had one skein in my stash but I ran out in the middle of working on the scarf, so of course, I had to get more.

I had just enough left from this project to make a little flower from Beyond the Square Crochet Motifs.

So pretty!

172: Why Hello There

One seventy two minus ninety five equals seventy seven. 77 days without blogging. More than two months. So what is there to talk about today? I've started working for the rest of my life, about a month ago (has it been a month already?). Which also means I graduated.

My mom's kind of silly and took this picture...
Where does the time go?

I have good news and bad news. The good news is that now that I'm working I don't have any homework and have time to knit and crochet to my hearts content...kind of. The bad news is that I'm working -- just kidding. The real bad news is that I don't have any pictures of the stuff I've been working on. Soon enough, though. The following pictures are of crocheted gifts that my friend Garnet (on ravelry) made for me for my birthday.

Aren't they adorable!!! I heart them.

I really think I should have done weeks instead of days. My life isn't that exciting. The other day I had an encounter with a moth. That was about as exciting as it got. I ended up throwing an empty Lysol wipes container at the blinds...Oh! I also got a hair cut! I got bangs! My first time since I cut them off (myself) at like 5 years old. They're cute but I think I should have gotten full bangs and not side bangs. Ok, I'm going to stop for now so I have something to talk about the next time I decide to blog.

95: Cheesecake and Books

I don't know why I bother counting the days anymore. I'm so silly.

Last Thursday was our second general meeting for Chi Epsilon. And being the crazy person I am, I decided I would bake miniature cheesecakes in addition to the food we were buying, because we're a bit tight on money and I wanted to feed our members well...Anyway, I made these, except Safeway didn't have an raspberries (if only I didn't eat that whole box I got before...). I substituted strawberries, which were just as good.

I guess you would call them mini-miniature cheesecakes because they are extra tiny. And even though I forgot to put in the vanilla in the cheesecake part (oops ><), they still turned out tasty.

I was so excited today at Borders. In their bargain book section they had a few cookbooks with really yummy looking recipes and great pictures (I like pictures) for most of them. I feel like pictures are essential for a cookbook. I want to know what my food is supposed to look like...So I got The Essential Guide to Baking, The Essential Guide to Desserts, Great Tastes: Indian, and Great Tastes: Drinks. I also got another knitting book, Holiday Knits. And all of this for under $25! Yay ^.^ I'm looking forward to doing a lot of cooking in the near future.

83: Tuesdays are for Pictures

Not too long ago I made a donation to Meghan over at Stitch It! Podcast (I <3 her podcast!). She's been offering prizes to a random donator each month and guess what - I won! I was so excited because that month the prize was some of her gorgeous handspun. So pretty!

A picture from Meghan's podcast blog

All spread out

Close-up time!

Now the question is, what do I make with it?

82: Storytime

I just can't blog everyday. I don't have enough exciting things to talk about. Since I don't have enough things to talk about, let's make stuff up...

A girl in a sky blue sundress approached the edge of the cliff. Three steps away. Two steps. One step. She peeked over the side and saw nothing but a never-ending horizon on its side. She turned away and began to lift her dusty shoe when she heard something. A voice that seemed to come from nowhere. The girl turned back towards the abyss and heard it again. Come home, it said. She couldn't recognize the voice, but in it was comfort, and love. Drawn to the voice, the girl stepped closer to the edge; pebbles tumbled down and disappeared into the nothingness. She was startled by the echoes surrounded in silence, so she turned around. After two steps, a breeze caught her dress and tousled her dark locks, carrying with it, ...home. Home. It was too much. Her small feet brought her to the edge of the cliff and beyond, down towards the fallen pebbles, towards home.

To be continued?
