11: Knitting!

his morning was less pleasant than the last few because I woke up with allergies...allergies! In the middle of winter! I thought to myself, what's going on? Then I realized the comforter that was just changed to on my bed was the on that one of my friends who has cats slept in when she slept over a while ago. Granted it was a long time ago but we never thought to wash it after just one or two uses. So I woke up this morning with allergies (thanks, Miriam =P). After changing all the sheets and comforter and taking a shower I crawled back in bed and slept for another two hours.

Yesterday I said that I didn't think I would do much knitting but as I posted that blog I started knitting. I finished Miriam's neckwarmer (ravelry link).

I actually ran out of the main color yarn (the rusty orange) so I had to use the leftover yarn from the wrist/armwarmers. But I think it will look okay. Now I just need to add the buttons.


I also finished my first real lace project, a scarf for my mom (ravelry link).

Yay for lace. And it's definitely not in lace-weight yarn, it's in nice, thick, plushy yarn ^.^ It's so soft! I just need to somehow hide it from my mom while I'm blocking it in my room...

Today I plan on doing some more knitting (or crocheting), reading and listening to podcasts. See you tomorrow =)

My first lace project

I've been working on my Mom's scarf since before Christmas...it was supposed to be a quick gift that but lace is taking me longer than expected. Actually, that's not true - it's taking a while because I haven't really gotten a chance to sit down and focus on it, not because it's lace or anything. The pattern actually isn't too bad for my first lace project, but if I'm not giving it my full attention, I tend to make mistakes (2 major ones so far). I need to figure out how to fix lace. I can undo the yarn overs and the k2tog but when it comes to the slip stitch overs, I get messed up.

Anyway, what did I do today? Oh it was my special someone's birthday today ^.^ We celebrated by just hanging out together. He went back to Davis today, though...sad. I probably won't see him for a couple weeks. I know, so long! Silly me.

I played Metroid Prime 3 with Cathy (again) and we're making slow progress on the game, but it's really fun. We just rented it, though, from Blockbuster and it's due tomorrow, I think. Either that or Tuesday...good thing there are no late fees.
