2012 in Instagram
I hardly use Instagram. I like it, though. I like how I can take crappy pictures on my iPhone and stick a filter on them and all of a sudden they look like you can hang them in a gallery. Sort of. I guess I don't take enough pictures on a daily basis to use it, but I really enjoy it when blogs have segments like "My Week in Instagram" and the like.
So here's my rendition of my life in Instagram from last year, and maybe a couple from late 2011 (as you can see, I took soo many pictures...).

2012 FO: Aran Necklace Camisole
Pattern: Aran Necklace Camisole by Caroline Bautista
Yarn: Pakucho Organic Cotton Sport in Forest Mist
Needles: US4 & US7
I made this for my mom last year. I actually started it late in 2011, hoping to finish it by Christmas (haha, I know, what was I thinking?) but completely messed up on the collar. I have no idea how I read the directions wrong, but I did. So I frogged it and started over and finished it for my mom's birthday.
These photos are of the cami before blocking, if I can even say that. Being the amazing knitter that I am, I didn't block the top, I just gift it to my mom and told her she should wash it by hand when she needs to. Soon after I got a text from her that said, "I washed it and it stretched! But it's okay, I like it longer." So now I think it's more like a tunic...

2012 FO: Twinkle Cabled Cowl
Project: 125-34 Knitted neck warmer with cables by DROPS design
Yarn: Twinkle Soft Chunky in Twinkle Peach
Needles: US19
This is definitely one of my favorite FOs from last year and I always get compliments when I wear it - so much so that someone I met asked me to make her two (but more on that later)!
The Twinkle yarn is so soft and squishy and I love the color. The cables were very simple but the offset gave a lovely cascading effect.
I would definitely make this again (and I have!).

Oh hai, 2013
In case you didn't notice, I didn't blog at all last year. Not once. And not only did I not blog, but I didn't even think about blogging. Maybe once. But hardly.
Lots of stuff happened last year. I moved into a house (I'm moving again this weekend...), my best friend got married (!!!), I started taking classes for a graphic design program, I went to Vogue Knitting Live in NY for the first time because my trip just happened to be timed right, I went to Stitches West and San Diego Comic Con again, I went camping twice, I bought a spinning wheel (best investment so far), I bought a fancy camera (still think the spinning wheel was a better investment), I got a permanent permanent position at work, and I made my first commission pieces for someone I met at Peet's.
So I was just a bit busy in 2012. I would say adult life is finally starting to settle in, but since I'm in the process of moving (again) and finishing up my last class for the graphic design program, everything is still a little crazy. But with all that craziness, I'm planning to recap the exciting things from last year over the next few weeks and/or months. So watch this space!
p.s. You may have noticed a redesign of the blog. I'm working on a website for my graphic design work and I figured I should try and make the blog a little more cohesive with that. Stay tuned for more on that :)
