48: Nom nom nom
Mmm...cookies....Today I tried making these scrumptious chocolate chocolate chip cookies. My friends are eating them right now. I had one and it's definitely a cookie that you'll want milk with. So good, though. And the raw dough is also very yummy, if you're into that sort of thing. I tried making another double chocolate recipe sometime last year and turned out way too rich. Actually, I think it was a triple chocolate, chocolate dough, chips and white chocolate chips. We took days to finish that batch. But this recipe is much less rich, though still very chocolatey. Nom nom nom...

47: What a Long Day
I missed my first class today. But I woke up in time for my second one and early enough to post flyers about the XE Kickoff Dinner this Friday. And then I went to class and tried to make graphs while taking notes. And then I got to see Mary today, an old roommate who was down in LA for a while and is now back in the Bay. And then I rushed back to the apartment, then rushed to Sam's Market to get soda for infosession that I rushed to. Then I rushed to my first design team meeting. Which lasted longer than expected but that's okay, we were at Fenton's (nom nom nom). And now I have lots of homework to do. So I'm going to do that.

43: Friday, I'm in Love
Man, and I liked that Thursday line, too (Thursday, never looking back).
Concert was awesome. We got there a bit late, but still got to see half of the first opening band. And they played almost all of my favorite songs. I got a tour shirt and a tote bag, too.
So about those cupcakes I made the other day...
Those are the hazelnut cappuccino cupcakes. The frosting was soooo good. I don't think I waited long enough to heat the egg whites and sugar, so the frosting wasn't stiff enough. But it was still good and hardened a bit in the fridge.
The red velvet cupcakes are from Pinch My Salt. I didn't use nearly enough food coloring but they still turned out fairly dark. I really like that dark red color for red velvet cake.
So Sunday is Valentine's Day. I think I plan on going into the city, maybe Golden Gate Park. We'll see.

41: Wednesday, Heart Attack
OMG cupcakes so good! Such a success. I will have to try both of those recipes again. You know, more on this tomorrow. I'm gonna listen to some Jack's Mannequin to prepare for tomorrow's concert.

39: I Don't Care if Monday's Black
The brownies I made yesterday are from justJENN recipes (link). They turned out quite yummy but I think I'm better at making the boxed brownies.
So Superbowl Sunday. I'm progressively more disappointed with the commercials each year. The etrade ones were okay, not as good as their first baby ones. There were hardly any beer ones and the ones that did play weren't very good. I didn't mind the halftime show so much, though. I like The Who and they performed alright. As for the game, I wasn't expecting the Saints to win but good for them. There were some pretty good plays, and some that were supposed to be good but weren't. Altogether, entertaining enough. I went over to Kevin's to watch with him and his family and they made all this yummy food. Mmm, guacamole, spinach dip, cheeseburgers, and more. Speaking of food, I wonder what's for dinner tonight...

37: Saturday, Wait
And I know it's Sunday, but once again, feels like late Saturday.
This morning I went with Cathy to the Berkeley Humane Society for our volunteer orientation. We were actually a little late >< But we were still able to catch most of the orientation. There was a cute little (or not so little) cat that walked around the whole time they talked. She was so friendly ^.^ We got to learn a little about the Society and what we'd be doing. I'm excited to work with animals again. I used to volunteer at ARF and I had so much fun working with the cats and dogs.
We cast our canoe today! It went a lot smoother than we expected, which was good. Maybe I'll be able to share some pictures later.

35: Thursday Doesn't Even Start
Story day! I wrote this way back when. It was either in high school or freshman year of college I think. I need to start dating things...
Memorabilia
For five years she remembered his face, his voice, his smile, his laugh, his eyes, his everything. Five long years until one day she decided to forget.
She woke up at eight in the morning and started the shower as she put her favorite jeans, red tank top and oversized black sweater on the bed. She stripped her plaid pajamas and stepped into the steaming stream. She let the water pour down through her thick hair, down her soft features, washing all her memories of him away. She stepped out of the shower and wrapped herself in a towel. Walking over to her bed she remembered the time he made breakfast for her. So courteous was he that he waited until she woke up to serve her, disregarding the fact that the eggs and French toast would be cold and the cereal soggy. It was too sweet to not love him for it. And love him she did. Forever. Even after he left.
She put her jeans on. Then her shirt. She looked at the oversized black sweater, picked it up and held it close, inhaling every scent it carried. After putting it on, she put three logs in her fireplace. She knelt by the side of her bed and pulled a large box out from underneath. Inside were memorabilia from her relationship. Everything.
She took out a box of matches and lit all nine that were inside. Tears formed in her eyes as she tossed the matches in the fireplace. Then the box they came in. She sifted through the large box telling herself not to look too closely at any one object. Then one by one, she tossed each item into the fire. Flames engulfed the memories as tears streamed down her face. She wanted to burn those the most – the tears that accompanied her through all her sadness and pain.
After the things finished burning, she put the box in. She watched its sides turn black and burn away. When all of it was gone she put out the fire and went to have breakfast. Eyes dry, she sipped her coffee and ate her toast. Warm and cozy in her soft--She was still wearing his sweater. She took it off and looked at it. She couldn’t do it; she just couldn’t get rid of it. Just like she could never fully get him out of her heart. He will always be there. She realized that she could never escape the pain but she could live with it, grow with it. She held the sweater and smiled at the memories that she kept so close to her heart. Always. She put the sweater back on and took one last sip from her coffee.

34: Wednesday, Break My Heart
The baby coffee cakes were a success, as were the pretzels. I made bread dough! So exciting ^.^ I've never been successful making anything that requires yeast, but this time, I did okay!
I got a text from Miriam saying that she was going to start a new knitting project. I'm excited for her, she doesn't taken on too many new projects, or at least not as many as I do, and it's expanding her knitting knowledge. Now I want to start something new...

32: Monday, You Can Fall Apart
his morning I found out something amazing. If you have a Starbucks gift card, you can use it to earn "stars" for each drink you purchase and once you get 5 stars you can get free things like a drink on your birthday and free extras in a customized drink. Once you hit 30 stars, you get a personalized card and some other stuff. I'm really excited because I heart Starbucks and I really needed another excuse to buy more coffee from them. Really.
I wore my new hat today! I got a couple of compliments on it, too. It was very warm and not even itchy. I'm surprised; I would expect Noro to be a bit itchy but it was fine. Mmm, I heart Noro Silk Garden...and they have the best colors! So vibrant. Although a bit hard to make items with. They tend to be a little eccentric.
Yesterday, I made peanut butter layer bars. I got the recipe from The Cookie Calendar and made a few adjustments to the layer bar. I didn't have peanut butter chips so I just put in peanut butter, and I didn't want to make cookies so I used graham crackers instead of cookie crumbs. I also added marshmallows and kept the white chocolate chips. It was a very decadent dessert but everyone seemed to enjoy it in study hall, even though I wasn't there to witness it. I think I'm going to try today's pretzels tomorrow afternoon.
